GreenGenUK is now part of Hometree Group

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of GreenGenUK, a leading renewable energy installer based in Cornwall. This acquisition represents another positive step forwards in our strategy to expand our national presence in renewable energy installations and accelerate the UK’s transition to low-carbon home energy solutions.

Founded in 2011, GreenGenUK has built a reputation as one of Cornwall and the South West’s leading providers of renewable energy solutions for domestic and commercial customers. Specialising in the design and installation of solar PV, solar thermal, air and ground source heat pumps, and battery storage, GreenGenUK installed an impressive one-third of all Boiler Upgrade Scheme heat pumps in Cornwall in 2023.

Through the acquisition, GreenGenUK will gain access to Hometree’s extensive customer base, innovative financing products, and comprehensive insurance services, enabling it to deliver even greater value to its customers.

As the UK phases out gas boilers in new homes by 2035 and targets the installation of 600,000 heat pumps annually by 2028, demand for renewable energy solutions is set to surge. Hometree’s acquisition of GreenGenUK strengthens its ability to meet this demand, building on GreenGenUK’s proven expertise and track record in delivering renewable energy solutions.

The acquisition also bolsters our engineering force, providing an opportunity to re-train and upskill our network of 5,000 engineers to install, repair, and maintain renewable technologies. With the UK needing an estimated 30,000 heat pump installers to achieve its decarbonisation goals, Hometree’s investment in training and workforce expansion is a critical step toward supporting the country’s energy transition.
